Diabetes management

Though additional studies on the effect of supplements on diabetes are needed, clinical studies show a lot of promise.

It is thought that supplements of this compound may assist in the regulation of blood sugar and help prevent common diabetes-related problems, including high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and heart disease.

A study published in the March 2011 issue of the journal "Current Diabetes Reviews" found that coenzymeQ10, along with several other antioxidants, found no benefit for the use of antioxidants to manage diabetes.

The meta-study, a review of previously published research, looked at information during the past 10 years for human trials where antioxidants were studied as complementary care to standard diabetes treatment.

Other antioxidants evaluated by the study included vitamin E, vitamin C, alpha lipoic acid and l-carnitine.

The researchers concluded that vitamin and mineral therapy is not recommended for the management of diabetes.
